ATTORNEY BJ BERNSTEIN ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA ENCOURAGING OTHER BOYS FOR COME FORWARD IN THE BISHOP EDDIE LONG SEX SCANDAL!! (VIDEO INSIDE)

Futuristic Blogger - Atlanta Attorney Bj Bernstein is known for results. When these young men hired her to represent them, it was the best move to win their case. Rumor has it, she turned down an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show to give Good morning America The exclusive.
This is not the lawyer you want to see on the other side of the courtroom! She's Currently encouraging other young men to come forward to testify against Bishop Eddie long! I have the strange feeling this case will turn criminal real soon!

Futuristic Blogger - This is one of the saddest stories I've heard all week! A Florida Man Kills His Wife & 4 Stepchildren But spared his two biological children!
I don't understand the logic behind this cowardly act, but I guess it's not for me to understand! I wish before people decide to take innocent lives
They just go out in a blaze in glory alone. God Bless this Family because I couldn't imagine what the Father of the step kids is going through.
But I'm sure he's probably blaming the mom for hooking up with a lunatic. So Sad!!

Attention readers:

Do you want to read about Good Men? Do you want to understand what it means to be a Good Man? I know you do. Check out The Good Men Project Magazine.

It's one of my newer finds and I love it. All of their articles make for some good reading.

What makes them different? Oh, just a few things…

They talk about sex without “selling sex.”

They publish daddy bloggers, Army Lieutenants, and a transgender FTM who wants desperately to be a good man.

They celebrate women (which may be why we’ve been so popular with them), and we publish women.

They talk about fathers and sons without resorting to predictable clichés.

They publish compelling features about the death penalty, adolescence, teen suicide, and addiction.

They interview interesting men (James Franco, Junot Diaz, Duncan Roy) who are trying to be good men.

They explore what the hell it means to be a good man, and we tackle the bad-man hype that seems to be everywhere these days.

And they laugh. A lot. Because guys are funny creatures who accidentally set their girlfriend’s hair on fire.

Can a men’s magazine that doesn’t caricaturize men prosper? Do men want to read about what it means to be a good man? We’re banking on it. And then banking on it some more. And then giving a substantial portion of our proceeds to organizations that help at-risk boys.

We’re The Good Men Project Magazine. We hope you’ll stay a while, and we hope you’ll check out our new blog, Good Feed, where we’re reporting hourly from the front lines of modern manhood.

Remembering Camille

By Lawrence Everett Forbes

In this gripping story, Forbes shares insight into the life of his "goody-two shoes" cousin who wasn't supposed to die before he did. Read on...

I came home on the evening of August 31, 1998, exhausted from helping a friend move out of her apartment. The last thing I expected was to be asked to confirm the death of my cousin, Camille.

“Is it true?” an aunt asked me over the phone. “Is she dead?”

She didn’t sound drunk, but I was certain she had to be—until I heard her say Uncle Leo had left word that his daughter had passed away from arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD), a rare heart condition.

I threw myself into cleaning my bedroom. Camille had graduated UPenn law school that May, turned 25 that June, taken the Bar Exam...MORE

Cambria County Marine Loses Life in Afghanistan

The Black Urban Times

The Department of Defense announced Wednesday the death of a U.S. Marine who died in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Days shy of his 21st birthday, Lance Corporal Ralph Fabbri died of injuries he sustained by small-arms fire while on a foot patrol in Helmand province, where Marines are fighting to wrestle control from the Taliban.

Fabbri, of Gallitzin, Pa., who joined the Marine Corps in 2008, was a combat photographer assigned to the Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Fabbri's unit was in the final weeks of a six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan. This was the 2008 Penn Cambria High School graduates first tour in the Middle East.

His grieving family released a bouquet of balloons in his memory last night - a day after his death, the result of an insurgent attack in the war torn province.

While specific details of the Associated Press reported. The Gallitzin native is believed to be the lone Marine reportedly killed in an insurgent attack Tuesday.

Stacy Hoover, 34, of Cresson, told the Altoona Mirror her cousin, Fabbri was scheduled to return in three weeks, which made the news of his death especially heartbreaking for the family, said Hoover who is making funeral arrangements for Fabbri's family.

Penn Cambria Superintendent Mary Beth Whited recalled the young Marine's days as an honor student in the district, his friendly smile and his strong interest in art, science and history courses.

"He took pretty much every history course he could while he was here; he just loved it. His enthusiasm and talent left a legacy at the school, Whited added.

Survived by parents Tim and Deb Fabbri, also of Gallitzin, and a brother, Tim Jr., the family is requesting privacy, she said.

Fabbri's death was the second this week, both occurring in Kandahar, where Operation Dragon Strike has been under way for weeks to flush out the Taliban, the Associated Press reported.

Another Cambria County service member, Sgt. Derek L. Shanfield, 22, of Hastings, died in June during combat operations also in the Helmand province, according to News 10.

The death of Bronx born actor, Tony Curtis, was announced by the Clark County Coroner's Office, The Associated Press reported.

Curtis was born
Bernard Schwartz on June 3, 1925, in the Bronx, New York to Emanuel Schwartz and his wife Helen Klein. His parents were Hungarian Jewish immigrants from Mátészalka, Hungary.

Curtis became a 1950s movie heartthrob, starring in such films as "Sweet Smell of Success," "The Defiant Ones" and "Some Like It Hot,"
as a cross-dressing musician.

A representative for Curtis' daughter, actress Jamie Leigh Curtis, confirmed his death, The Associated Press reported. His first wife was actress Janet Leigh of Psycho fame and the mother of his daughter, actress Jamie Leigh Curtis.

The famous Bronxnite returned to film and television after battling drug and alcohol abuse. His brash optimism returned, and he allowed his once-shiny black hair to turn silver. He also became a painter whose canvasses sold for as much as $20,000, USA Today reported.

On July 8, 2010, Curtis suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and was hospitalized in Las Vegas after suffering an asthma attack during a book signing engagement in Henderson, Nevada at Costco. Representatives for the family say Curtis died in bed at his Las Vegas home, around 9:25 PM of cardiac arrest. He was 85-years-old.

One of Bishop Long's Accusers Speaks Out with Fox News 5 (Video/Article)

Introductory by Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

Jamal Parris, one of the young men who have filed a lawsuit against Bishop Eddie Long, steps out of the shadows to give an exclusive interview to Atlanta News Fox 5's senior I-Team reporter Dale Russell in the hopes of safeguarding other young men.

*SCROLL DOWN TO SEE VIDEO FOOTAGE OF PARRIS' INTERVIEW*

Under the cover of night, in a Colorado parking lot, Parris tells a gripping story of seduction, pain and manipulation at the hands of a man Parris says he called "daddy" and loved. As time passed, Parris said he began to see Long for what he was: a predator not a parental figure.

As stated in his lawsuit, Parris says Long lavished upon him, money, cars, jewelry, dinners and trips in the Bishop's private jet, sometimes with funds from the church repository to methodically seduce him and other young boys into a sexual relationship, which grew more intense as they reached the age of consent.

He said the bishop often exploited scripture in order to justify the sexual relationship.
As the young boys aged, the bishop allegedly lost interest in sex and began looking for younger men.

"This man turned his back on us when he had no more need for us," Parris said. "That's not a father, that's a predator."

Long's licentious relations with a then-14 year old fatherless Parris, who was likely seeking direction and structure in his life, began after he joined New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Bishop Long took Parris under his wing and urged the youngster to "trust him" with "spiritual guidance."

"You finally have a father that you've always wanted for and always dreamed of," said Parris. "He would just walk away from you if you don't give him what he wants. So you end up turning into something you never thought you would be, which is now a slave to a man that you love."

Parris speaks aloud on what others may secretly wonder and what some have discussed through social networking sites and in coffeehouse shops:

While the Bishop took to the pulpit vowing to fight the allegation, he never came flat out and vehemently denied them. He never looked out to his flock and said, "I did not do this. I have never had sex with any of these boys/young men or any others. I am not homosexual. I am
not guilty of any sexual improprieties. I have not abused church funds."

"That man can not look me in my eye and tell me we did not live this pain," said Parris. "Why you can sit in front of the church and tell them that you categorically deny it. You can't say that to our face. And you know this. You are not a man, you are a monster."

And with that, Jamal Parris got in his car and drove off into the night....

Predecessor: Philly Mayor Not 'Black...Just a Mayor with Dark Skin'

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

Former Philadelphia Mayor, John Street threw a dagger at successor, Mayor Michael Nutter by telling The Philadelphia Inquirer that Nutter was "not a black mayor ... just a mayor with dark skin."

And this isn't the first time Street has ignited racial controversy with racial remarks. During a 2002 NAACP conference he boasted, "Let me tell you: The brothers and sisters are running the city. ... Don't you let nobody fool you; we are in charge of the City of Brotherly Love." He later apologized for the remark.

Nutter, a West Philadelphia native, called Street's statement "undignified," saying the former Mayor simply found a crafty way to distract the people from seeing "the deficiencies over there [PHA]."

The two politicians have history dating back to their days on the City Council. Nutter believes this latest attack was brought on by his sharp criticism and nasty gram to Street concerning the embarrassing mess at the PHA.

In his letter Nutter wrote: "I am baffled, like most Philadelphians, to learn of your contention that you as board chairman had no knowledge of the sexual-harassment cases brought against Mr. Greene," then took sharpshooter aim at Street and board members, saying the agency "may be suffering from a lack of appropriate oversight."

Street responded with his usual disdain saying, "He's just talking. He has to say something."

Ouch!

So, according to Nutter, Street's verbal lashing came as "no surprise, given what's happened over the past month or so with the former mayor, and his overseeing the complete managerial meltdown of what's going on at PHA (Philadelphia Housing Authority)," Nutter told The Inquirer.

Whether Nutter will continue to press the PHA issue and force changes beyond Greene's dismissal remains to be seen. Nutter's "track record has not been so good when it comes to playing power politics," wrote Inquirer Columnist, Monica Yant Kinney.

Last week, things grew interesting at drama central (aka PHA) when the Board of Commissioners fired executive director, Carl Greene, amid allegations he allegedly sexually harassed as many as eight female staffers and used PHA funds to settle lawsuits brought on by the women.

While Nutter may be correct about the managerial mess Street will have to clean up over at PHA, thus far, the former Mayor hasn't missed a beat in dancing the political-two-step.

The PHA board fired Greene and a full-blown internal investigation is underway. Federal prosecutors are now on the case, in addition to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, who are reportedly sending in an audit team for good merit.

PHA board members accuse Greene of intentionally making himself unavailable for questioning by checking himself into an out-of-state medical-treatment facility during the time they launched a soft inquiry into the sexual harassment, funds misuse and slush allegations.

Greene responded with a civil lawsuit claiming he "suffered harm" due to board members embarrassing and humiliating him and destroying the "good name of a shrewd and capable leader."

Street, once an avid supporter of Greene, scoffed at the lawsuit saying, "It's all about the money. I don't think it's about keeping his job. I think it's about walking out of here with a little bit of money."

Under Greene's employment contract, the board can fire Greene only if it can prove that his conduct caused "material injury and damage to PHA." If not, the board would have to honor his five-year contract, which is up in March 2012. Greene last year earned $306,370, plus a $44,188 bonus.

Kansas City Chiefs Shaun Smith Accused of Second 'Sac Grab' in Two Weeks

By Alicia Cruz
The New Jersey Newsroom

"Don't hand me no lines, and keep your hands to yourself..."

That seems to be the consensus amongst two NFL players who say they were inappropriately touched by a fellow player on the gridiron. For a second week in a row Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Shaun Smith stands accused of "unnecessary touching", The Associated Press reported.

This time, it was San Francisco 49ers rookie offensive lineman Anthony Davis who accused the 325-pound defensive tackle of copping a feel during Sunday's game.

"He tried to feel me," Davis told The Associated Press. "That's weird, right?"

Davis' response: he punched the 29-year-old Brooklynite in the ribs, and received a 15-yard personal foul penalty.

Last week, Smith was also accused of grabbing the testicles of Cleveland Browns center Alex Mack during the second quarter of Sunday's game. Days later, the 2009 Cal State Senior Bowl representative was fined $5,000 and flagged 15-yards for unnecessary roughness for sacking the Chief's linebacker Derrick Johnson.

The 24-year-old Santa Barbara native didn't say if the "sack grab" led to the penalty but acknowledged that "there's things I can do better. You want to be aggressive and attacking. You just can't have penalties."

Mack, rightfully incensed over the low-down, dirty feel, said, "I don't think he should be able to do that. I'm still fired up about it," The Huffington Post reported.

Smith, of course, denied the accusations telling the AP that he had "...no comment. I don't recall doing anything like that. I'm not known for being a dirty player or anything like that, so I don't know what that was all about." However, video footage featured on the Total Pro Sports web site may tell a different story. You be the judge.

New Video: Chris Brown - Matrix 12 Strands

The power of the internet is overwhelming. You can find just about anything you want by the click of one little button. This power is no different when it comes to Chris Brown. Chris worked on a mini movie called "12 Strands Matrix" and was going to premiere it on pay per view for a fee of $2.99. I don't know who was working with Chris Brown at the time to think that idea was going to sit over well with folks but hey that was their plan.

Well, lo and behold, that video premiered yesterday and to say Chris Brown is pissed is putting it lightly! Chris Brown was soo upset with the leak of his mini movie that he had this to say on Twitter below:

"Ya’ll bootleggin’ this video already. Thats effed up. I give ya’ll free music all the time. Ya’ll could at least do me this solid”.

I don't know who the comment was directed to but not shortly after that tweet was sent out, it was deleted from his profile. And although I love me some Chris Brown, it wouldn't be right of me to put this article up without the video included......so enjoy it below courtesy of Bossip:

What are your thoughts? Would you have paid $2.99 to see this? I'm curious!

Jenice Armstrong: Michael Vick's Fiancée is Standing By Her Man

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

When Jenice Armstrong uses that term, she could be referring to any number of women, but on this occasion, she's speaking of Kijafa Frink, the fiancée of Eagles quarterback, Michael Vick.

In March 2009, Frink launched the website ISupport7.com, in support of the man she loves and his return to professional football. The website featured positive photos of Vick hugging a child and smiling and allows users to leave both positive and negative comments for the Vick family.

"[Frink] actually seems to like giving interviews and doesn't shy away from talking with reporters, unlike the publicity-averse McNabb," Armstrong wrote.

" We met Friday afternoon for lunch at Devon Seafood Grill on Rittenhouse Square and it felt like I was meeting up with a girlfriend - except I had my notebook out and was scribbling
...."FULL STORY

Vick, 30, was the Atlanta Falcon's quarterback at the time of his illegal dog fighting arrest in July 2007. While the publicity, legal and financial woes that followed his very public arrest and trial may have been self-induced, they were tough nonetheless.

An additional charge brought against Vick from the state of Virginia followed in November 2008 to which Vick later pleaded guilty to dog fighting. He received a three-year suspended sentence for that charge, and was order to pay a $2500 fine.

Vick appeared in U.S. District Court in Richmond to face the federal charge before Judge Hudson, who said he was "convinced that it was not a momentary lack of judgment" on Vick's part, and that Vick was a "full partner" in the dog fighting ring before he sentenced him to 23 months at the Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas.

In July 2008, Vick, a native of Newport News, Virginia, sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after failing to "work out consensual resolutions with each of his creditors." Vick cited liabilities of $20.4 million against assets of $16 million.

Photo/B. Andrews
Vick proposing to Frink at the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia last December.

The seven largest creditors without collateral backing their claims were owed a total of $12.8 million. The three biggest unsecured creditors were Joel Enterprises Inc., owed $4.5 million for breach of contract; Atlanta Falcons, owed $3.75 million for "pro-rated signing bonus;" and Royal Bank of Canada, owed $2.5 million for a loan. Also among those debts were $2,500 monthly mortgage payments on a house he shares with Frink and their two children.

Attorney Paul K. Campsen, who represented Vick, explained to the court that his client "has supported his mother, brother, fiancée and his two children" over the years, all which amounted to average monthly expenses of $12,225 for several large homes his family and friends were living in and a monthly income of just $277.69.

Vick's mother Brenda was a school bus driver in Newport News. She had been earning $100,000 per year as an employee of MV7, Vick's celebrity marketing company, which also employed one of his sisters. Marcus, who lives with Brenda, lost his college scholarship when he was expelled from the football program at Virginia Tech following a series of incidents.

An undrafted free agent in the 2006 NFL Draft, he was signed by the Miami Dolphins and played in one game. The Dolphins did not renew his single year contract. At the time of the hearing, he was free on bail facing multiple charges from the police chase incident in June 2008 in Norfolk. On October 20, Marcus was convicted and given a suspended twelve month jail sentence.

According to Vick's attorneys, money Vick meted out to his fiancée, mother, two children and other family members in recent years might have to be returned to pay creditors. If they bought property with said monies, they could be ordered to sell that property and turn over the proceeds to the court.

Vick, the first African-American quarterback to be selected first overall in an NFL Draft, has struggled to stay out of the legal spotlight, but several incidents have made him front page news beginning in 2004 and the latest incident occurring at a birthday party Vick threw for his birthday in Virginia Beach during the summer of 2010 (Click HERE to read that story).

Vick's Legal Woes
* In 2007, statements were made by his father, Michael Boddie, about possible dogfighting activities in 2001. Boddie told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that around 2001, Vick was staging dogfights in the garage of the family's home in Newport News and kept fighting dogs in the family's backyard, including injured ones which the father nursed back to health.
Boddie said his son had been urged to not engage in the activity, but continued. He stated: "This is Mike's thing. And he knows it." Within days, Vick's mother, Brenda Vick Boddie, told the Newport News Daily Press "There was no dogfighting (at our home). There were no cages."

* In early 2004, two men were arrested in Virginia for distributing marijuana. The truck they were driving was registered to Vick. Falcons coach Dan Reeves recalled that he lectured Vick at that time on the importance of reputation, on choosing the right friends, and on staying out of trouble for the good of his team.

* On October 10, 2004, Vick and other members of his party, including employee Quanis Phillips, were at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport on their way to board an AirTran flight. While they were passing through a security checkpoint, a security camera caught Phillips and Todd Harris picking up an expensive-appearing watch which belonged to Alvin Spencer, a security screener.
After watching the theft on a video tape, Spencer filed a police report. He claimed that Billy "White Shoes" Johnson, known as the Falcons' "fixer", interfered with the investigation. Although Vick representatives declined to make him available for an Atlanta police inquiry, six days later Spencer got the watch back from them.

* In March 2005, Sonya Elliott filed a civil lawsuit against Vick alleging she contracted genital herpes from him in the autumn of 2002 and that he failed to inform her that he had the disease. Elliot further alleged that Vick had visited clinics under the alias "Ron Mexico" to get treatments and thus knew of his condition.
On April 24, 2006, Vick's attorney, Lawrence Woodward, revealed that the lawsuit had been settled out of court under undisclosed terms. Many fans bought custom jerseys from NFL.com with Vick's number 7 and the name "MEXICO" on the back. The NFL has since banned customizing jerseys with the name Mexico.

* November 26, 2006 – After a loss to the New Orleans Saints in the Georgia Dome, in apparent reaction to fans booing, Vick made an obscene gesture at fans, holding up two middle fingers. He was fined $10,000 by the NFL and agreed to donate another $10,000 to charity.

* January 17, 2007 – Vick surrendered a water bottle which had a hidden compartment to security personnel at Miami International Airport. "The compartment was hidden by the bottle's label so that it appeared to be a full bottle of water when held upright," police said. Test results indicated there were no illegal substances in the water bottle and Vick was cleared of any wrongdoing. Vick announced that the water bottle was a jewelry stash box, and that the substance in question had been jewelry.

* On April 24, 2007, Vick was scheduled to lobby on Capitol Hill, hoping to persuade lawmakers to increase funding for after-school programs. Vick missed a connecting flight in Atlanta on Monday to Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. He later failed to show up for another seat booked for him later that evening. On Tuesday morning, he did not attend his scheduled appearance at the congressional breakfast where he was to be honored for his foundation's work with after-school projects in Georgia and Virginia. Vick's mother Brenda accepted the award from the Afterschool Alliance.

Health Care Personnel in Jamaica Strike for Wages

Scores of Jamaican natives are facing a health crisis as medical support staff made good on their threat to "take industrial action" before talks with the island nation's senior government ministers put an end to the strike.

Ambulance drivers, attendants, ward assistants and enrolled assistant nurses were among the medical personnel who all walked off the job Monday demanding immediate payment of "outstanding allowances," The Jamaican Gleaner reported.

Jamaica Workers Union (JWU) delegate, Paula Bolton told The Gleaner workers were willing to set reclassification and the seven per cent increase promised to them aside, but are demanding monies owed to them since 2007.

"What we get to understand is that the finance ministry says the Government has no money because we had asked for the reclassification amount plus the seven per cent increase and the allowance."

Angry health workers at the Linstead Hospital in St Catherine protested outside the hospital's
gate. Medical staff from Bellevue Hospital in east Kingston who also joined the protest say they had no choice but to take industrial action.

Health records clerk, Angella Lobban-Rhooms, who works at the Linstead Hospital in Saint Catherine Parish told The Gleaner that in light of price increases and other expenses, the Government should fulfil its promises.

While the workers stance is understandable, the argument and ensuing strike harmed innocent bystanders -- patients in need of medical attention like a pregnant woman, and a 16-year-old boy who identified himself as Troy who was retuning to the hospital for weekly treatments after he was shot more than a month ago.

Both were amongst many ailing islanders turned away from the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) without treatment due to a lack of medical personnel.

"Everybody a walk past me and nobody nah say nothing to me. It look like me have to try get a different date," Troy told the Jamaican Gleaner.

Florida Jury Unable to Decide Fate of Buju Banton

The trial of Reggae star Buju Banton, whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, ended in a mistrial after jurors, deliberating since last Thursday, notified the sitting judge they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

Jurors sent U.S. District Judge James Moody a note Monday saying they could not reach a verdict, but Moody ordered them to continue deliberations. After a second note was sent, Moody sustained a motion by the defense to declare a mistrial, MSNBC reported.

Myrie has been in custody since December 2009 when Drug Enforcement Administration agents arrested him in Miami.

The U.S. Attorney charged the four-time Grammy winner with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilos of cocaine and aiding two others in possessing a firearm during the course of cocaine distribution. A conviction on the charges would have sent the "Rasta Got Soul" singer to prison for 20 years.

Myrie's attorney has maintained all along that the singer was entrapped by a government informant, and that Myrie should be released on bond.

According to the DEA affidavit, Myrie, 36, contacted a confidential informant for the DEA about a possible cocaine purchase. The informant tipped off the DEA and the following day, Myrie and other individuals met with the informant at La Tropicana de Havana restaurant in Sarasota, Florida, where the DEA and local police set up surveillance.

When Myrie allegedly arrived at the meeting, driving his silver Land Rover with the license plate Jah One, the group then headed to a warehouse authorities rigged with audio and video recording devices.

An undercover police officer pulled out one brick from the 20-kilogram, according to the DEA, and one of Myrie's associate's cut it open with a knife.

Myrie, according to the affidavit, "instantly wiped the blade of that knife with his finger and placed that finger in his mouth in what appeared to be an attempt to taste the cocaine."

Additional meetings occurred at local restaurants between the informant and Myrie's associates, which led to authorities arresting those individuals, followed by the apprehension of Myrie in Miami.

The husky-voiced Myrie, who has been compared to the legendary Bob Marley by fans and supporters, reached superstar status in his native Jamaica since arriving on the music scene in the 1990s. He recently introduced a more traditional reggae sound compared to his earlier saucy, dancehall music.

His intolerant stance of the gay community as demonstrated in songs like "Batty Rider" and "Boom Bye Bye," which glorifies the shooting of gay men, has stunted his career in the United States.

A new trial date is expected to be announced later, NewsOne reported.
