Gabby "Precious" Sidibe On SNL

There was a big stink about Gabby "Precious" Sidibe being on Saturday Night Live. I thought the skit with Kenan Thompson was hilarious! The skit was about "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" with Steve Harvey (played by Kenan Thompson). All I'm going to say is this......if Kenan didn't play Steve Harvey, I don't know who did!!! Hilarious! Check it out for yourselves below:

By the way, I saw Kenan Thompson on Valentines Day over at Caroline's Comedy Club and he was with a white chick! They seemed very happy but I was soo happy to learn he wasn't playing for the other team....cuz that's what I had heard back in the day but I'm glad he proved me wrong! ;-)

Poet's Corner: "Whitey Wants to Go Back to the Moon (A Tribute to Gil Scott-Heron)"

0 comments Labels: Poet'S Corner, poetry
In a sea of obscurity,
a black man lives in infamy,
while whitey commemorates historically,
one small step for man,
one giant step for mankind.

Marooned on his own planet,
once again whitey’s back at it—
whitey wants to go back to the moon.

A black man ain’t got no job,
no car,
no pot to piss in.

A black man ain’t got no money,
no future,
no house to stew in.

Trapped on his own planet,
once again whitey’s back at it;
only this time,
the first black president has said

we ain’t going back to the moon—
we’re going to mars.
And if we can’t reach mars,
then we’ll fall among the stars

Rest assured Gil Scott-Heron—

Whitey ain’t going back to the moon.

P.S. This time the revolution will be televised—
on T.V.,
Cable T.V.,
the Internet,
Podcast,
Facebook,
Tweeter,
My Space,
YouTube,

I'm glad that both Trina and Lil Wayne were able to put their past issues aside and collab for a new joint called "Currency" which also features Rick Ross The Boss! I'm feeling the new joint. A friend of mine told me the other day that new music is never good but I beg to differ. In my opinion....as long as it's good music I don't care if it's new or old I'm good. Porn Star, Mr. Marcus, Writes Sex Book

0 comments Labels: news

It's time for the fellas to start writing books and let the world know what women they have been dealing with. So it would only be right for porn star, Mr. Marcus, to come out with his own book and it's called "Porn Star Guide To Great Sex". The book will be out in stores on June 22nd and "Ozone" mag released an excerpt from the book in their new sex issue. Check out the excerpt below:

Some of the best sex induces a sense of vulnerability, a permissiveness that allows your lover unlimited access to your erogenous zones and G-spots and pressure points and nether regions. She’s spreading her legs, letting you lick her here, sucking you there, fondling and fingering and whispering your name. You are a part of her, and her you. She’s yours to do what you will—as long as you do it right.

This vulnerability gives you a certain power when making love, the power to manipulate, to compel her to act out her wildest, darkest fantasies. She wants to be filled, to be used, to be satisfied. Even as a teenager, I found a paradox in sex—that she’s giving you permission to violate her—that was in itself an aphrodisiac, an addiction that would quickly morph into my avocation….

I accidentally discovered porn in ’86. I used to borrow my step-dad’s socks. He always had brand-new clean socks, so I would sneak into his drawer and take a pair. One day as I was digging for a matching pair, I discovered his stash of hardcore adult magazines. No one was home, so I pulled out the stack and went through all of the magazines. There was a mixture of black and white photo spreads and a series of color photos all set to differently themed magazine titles. They immediately caught my attention. All of the magazines were hardcore, so there was a photo or two to establish a sort of story, followed by immediate action and ultimate penetration…

At the time of my discovery I was 17 with only a few sexual conquests in my life. I want to be in those magazines. But it was clear these porn models were much more experienced. So I did the next best thing, I masturbated twice a day to the images in my mind from the magazines. Both were vivid and explicit, creative and narrative. I had a running story, an established relationship with these pictures. I viewed them over and over sometimes forgetting to put them back where I found them. I couldn’t erase the impression they made on my mind. I became resolute in my decision to become a part of the adult industry.

I quickly sought out hardcore magazines, where the sex was real and I could see a real sexual connection. These magazines weren’t in the mainstream newsstands; they were in the sex shops. And they were expensive, so I’d have to read as much of them as I could absorb there. Then leave as discreetly as I came. Those early images left me with a hard on I could not escape. The twice masturbation sessions were not enough to squelch the desires I had. Pu$$y became my motivation. Getting into those magazines assured me there would be a constant stream of pu$$y.
By the time I turned 23, I not only knew I wanted to be a porn star, but I knew what porn models I wanted to fu*k and what lucky porn guys were lucky enough to fu*k them. I even knew the names of porn companies I wanted to work for. So I read up on the stars and the industry in L.A. Express, a very cheap and accessible magazine that informed the reader of what was going on in the porn industry. From what movies were being made to what parties they were going on, to what new starlet was making headlines. So when I read about the annual porn awards show in Las Vegas I made the 300 mile trip. Right place, right time, because before I knew it I was handed a card and told to call if I wanted to get in the business. A porn star was born…

My first adult porn set was out in Palm Springs. The girl who had brought me into the industry, Heather Lee, she was out there doing a shoot. She wanted me to drive out there to meet the director. If he liked me, he might hire me in the future. His name was Roy Brewington and he was actually a photographer who happened to also be a director. What I would learn later is a lot of the successful producers in porn were also very good photographers. He was one of the best. I drove down to Palm Springs and met up with Heather. She had talked highly of me, so when I showed up, Roy was very hospitable and professional. I felt comfortable, like I belonged.

Heather pulled me off into a room and asked how I was feeling. I was good, especially since I didn’t know what to expect, but I was game. Me and Heather had had sex a few times before at her place and mine, and she was already a successful porn star so it was her suggestion I get into porn. I guess she had been fu*king me just to make sure I was ready and up to the task. After a few minutes, she says, “Roy wants you to be in the scene”, I was like “Okay, no problem”. I was a 23 year old kid, and I had already said, “Okay, no problem,” to stealing, robbing, and driving without a license. Sh*t, what was going to stop me from fu*king on film? Nothing.

I was where I belonged and everyone knew it, but there was one catch. There would be another guy in the scene. “Huh? How’s that going to work?” I asked. Heather looked at me with a look that said, “Don’t worry I can handle it.” I realized that this was perfectly normal. 2 guys and 1 girl was normal in porn. The girls could handle it or in this business, they better be able to handle it, because it’s normal. I was still a young guy in a very mature business, naivety abound.

It wasn’t long before the other guy showed up, Mr. Sean Michaels. This guy was cool from top to bottom. He strolled in all suited up, clean as fu*k, and the first thing I noticed was how clean and pimped he was. One of a kind instantly. I couldn’t think of anyone like him, a very unique cat. I was also familiar with his work. I had been a fan of porn since I was 16 years old and I remembered all the black dudes I had seen. I wanted to be like them, and here was someone I had admired right there in front of me. He came over and shook my hand and said, “Wanna smoke?” Without hesitation I said, “Yeah”. I didn’t even know what we were going to be smoking, but I didn’t give a fu*k. I thought it was cool that he asked. Roy only hired the best and Sean was the best. 2 other guys arrived shortly after Sean, Marc Wallace and Peter North. More legends. I knew their faces and I had seen their work. I was in good company, and this solidified my feeling of belonging. I stood there thinking I couldn’t believe my luck. It was like meeting Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh and KRS-1, except this was 1 black guy and 2 white dudes and they made porn. These were the top 3 in the business. I had been placed squarely in line with distinction. If they were the porn version of celebrity, I was sure to be of significance . . .

I know that was alot to read but I'm still curious to know if you guys will run out and get yourself a copy? And just as a little FYI, Mr. Marcus has also slept with the likes of Karrine "Superhead" Steffans!! I wonder if there will be something about her in there......we will just have to see come June. ;-)

Bedrock Remix By Rasheeda Ft. Toya, Kandi, Diamond & Lola

Ok, at first when I saw the title of this video, my first thought was ” oh, gosh here we go, ” smh, but to my surprise it's actually a cute video. They didn’t look slutty, well maybe Diamond, but everyone else looked very cute. Althought, I felt like Lola was trying to have her little Lady Gaga moment, she still rocked it, and Toya on the other hand just really reminded me of Trina and out of place, but other than that check out the video and let me know your thoughts.

Article by: Stephanie Gergeres Of Juicy Highlights.

(Young Riot- Artist/ James Del Gatto- Director )

This past sunday I was on the set of Young Riots music video shoot at Lobo Recording Studios and while I was on the set I spoke to Young Riot and Director James Del Gatto. Although, these two creative talents are up and coming in the music industry, they have definitetly been around enough to create a stir in the music industry circle.

First let's start with James Del Gatto , once an intern under Little X, Del Gatto has now branched out to make a name for himself by working with artist like Lil' Wayne, Juelz Santana , T.I and many others. Now although, the name may not ring a bell to some , his work will definitely speak for it's self, because you will be able to see more of his projects that he has currently worked on that will be released soon. A few of those projects will be Del Gatto's 1o day behind the scene documentary with T.I before he was incarcerated and his music video with Juelz Santana ft. Lil Wayne called " Home Run " , which will premiere on BET.

(Next- CCO of Amalgam/ Young Riot )

Signed to Amalgam Digital, Young Riot, aka Mr. I’m So Yes, has already made a name for himself in the world of hip hop. Inspired and determined to become a successful artist, Riot, has already created an underground buzz and gained national recognition in Source Magazine and Hip Hop Weekly at the age of 21. Currently, Young Riot is touring and promoting his single "Yes At Me". Check out some pictures and interview to follow. Until then, let me know what you think!

Book Review: "Married On Mondays"

Married On Mondays
by HoneyB
Reviewed by A. Jarrell Hayes

Marriage isn’t easy. If anybody tells you marriage is easy, they’re lying to you. But marriage becomes much more difficult when spouses hoard damaging secrets and fail to communicate properly with one another.

In HoneyB’s new novel Married On Mondays, the lives and marriages of three sisters is examined. The three women, Déjà, Foxy, and Victoria, share the same father but different mothers, and were born only weeks apart. This sounds improbable, but the sisters do fall into a hierarchy of maturity, as if the weeks separating them were in fact years.

Déjà is the leader of the three. In the pastry restaurant the three sisters own and run together, Déjà is the one that keeps the cogs moving. She takes charge and is no-nonsense, and usually is the one the other two sisters run to when things go terrible wrong. She’s the “big” sister.

Foxy is like the middle child; she competes with Déjà for attention and dominance out of the three. She’s her own woman and indulges in her appetites in an almost carefree, reckless manner. She’s needy, but views admitting dependence on others makes her weak; and she doesn’t want to be weak.

Victoria takes on the role of youngest sister: she is babied by the other two women, easily pushed around, and has difficulty standing up for herself. She’s the first one to run to others for help, and the first to give her assistance if asked. She’s open-minded, at times, but has a tendency to wander in life.

Each of the sisters is married to partners in a highly successful law firm in Crème City, a fictional San Francisco, California. Déjà is married to the talented, but somewhat timid Acer; Foxy is hitched to equally unfaithful and arrogant legal ace Winston; and Victoria is married to Naomi – a woman. The three sisters keep secret from their respective spouses their sexual infidelities and a lucrative joint side business as sexperts and attractions in a sexual fantasyland.

The tension in the novel begins with Foxy’s long-time affair with her ex-fiancé and her failing marriage with her husband. Since the sisters work together and their spouses work together, Foxy’s affair threatens the marriages and businesses of everyone. HoneyB weaves an exciting tale of deceit and lies, a result when communication in marriages fails.

The sex scenes are explosive as well as informative. HoneyB does more in the sex scenes than titillate, but goes into finding the sometimes elusive female g-spot, squirting, and obtaining explosive orgasms. Communication isn’t always about words, and HoneyB does a great job of adding the importance of physical and sexual communication between couples into the story.

The book does require the reader to suspend disbelief in order to enjoy it. The book has quite a few improbable situations within it. There’s even a shout out in the narrative to a title from another author on the Grand Central label. One of the love it or hate it moments in the book.

Out of the three marriages, only the marriage between Déjà and Acer is essentially trouble-free, while the other two are crumbling. Those marriages are in trouble because the spouses try to be married only on Mondays – when it’s convenient for them – not the full seven days a week.

Totowa Man Killed in Paterson was Former Marine

0 comments Labels: news

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

The Totowa man found dead in Paterson this weekend is a former United States Marine who had been convicted of manslaughter in the 2009 death of a Jacksonville, North Carolina woman.

Joseph Ballard, 30, of Totowa was found dead Saturday from a single gunshot wound to his face. According to a news release from the Paterson police department, Ballard was carrying more than $100 when he was found sitting in the driver’s seat of his Nissan Pathfinder near the intersection of Fair and Auburn Streets. He recently returned to New Jersey after he was released from prison in North Carolina.

So far, police have recovered a slug from the shooting, but are only saying that the bullet came from a gun larger than a 9MM weapon.

Ballard, who was attached to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Division aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, served a six-month tour in the Middle East during 2007 that earned him the Iraq Campaign medal.

The former decorated Marine joined the Corps in January 2006, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal, according to Maj. Shawn Haney, the public affairs officer, Quantico, Virginia. It is believed that Ballard left the Marine Corps in July 2008, but that cannot be confirmed, as the Marine Corp does not disclose the discharge date of a former service member unless his discharge involved a courts martial.

Ballard, a machine gunner while on active duty, earned several service awards including the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
He was convicted in March 2009 of involuntary manslaughter and driving while impaired after he hit Lisa Gail Smith on Highway 24 as she was riding her scooter. Smith was dressed in proper personal protective gear including a helmet and reflective vest when Ballard turned in front of her scooter causing it to collide with his vehicle.

According to an article in the Jacksonville Daily News, at the time of the accident, Smith had a blood alcohol content of 0.15. The legal limit in the state if North Carolina is 0.08.

North Carolina Department of Correction records show Ballard was released from prison in February after serving 11 months on the charges.

A woman who answered the door of a house on Passaic Avenue in Hawthorne listed in public records as Ballard’s address said she wanted everyone to know that Ballard was a good guy, but had no other comment. A man who answered the door at Ballard’s family home in Totowa refused comment.

Paterson police Capt. Heriberto Rodriguez said they are attempting locate potential witnesses to the murder of the troubled former Marine, but that search has been made difficult due to the fact that the area where the murder occurred has a large transient population.

“We’re tracking down everyone that was possibly out there,” he said. “But other than that, we don’t have anything,” Rodriguez told the New Jersey Record.

Anyone with information on the murder of Joseph Scott Ballard is asked to call the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office or the Paterson Police Department at 973-321-1120.

Man Offers Undercover Hooker Tastycake, $10 for Asbury Park Sex Act

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

A prostitution sting netted the arrests of 19 men from Monmouth and Ocean counties Friday after police say they solicited sex from an undercover female police officer, with one of the dim wits offering the officer a box of tasty cakes snacks and $10 cash in exchange for a sex act.

The sting, which began around 11:00 a.m. took place on Kingsley Avenue, between Asbury Park and Fifth Avenues and ended sometime after 5 p.m. Police say the men offered the undercover officer anywhere from $10 to $100 and were charged with solicitation of prostitution.

"We run these types of details throughout the city from time to time," said Detective Capt. Anthony Salerno. "It should serve as a deterrent to folks - if you're looking for illegal activity, Asbury Park is not the place to come to."

The names of those arrested in the sting are:

NJ Appellate Court Rules in Favor of John Wilson

The Black Urban Times

A New Jersey Appellate Court ruling handed down on Monday may free a Franklin Township man sentenced to five years in prison for growing marijuana plants to treat his Multiple Sclerosis.

John Wilson’s attorney James Wronko confirmed the ruling saying, “They have stayed the sentence.”

Wilson’s emergency bail hearing is scheduled for 1:30PM today at the Somerset County Courthouse in Somerville. Judge Robert Reed will preside over the hearing.

The court ruled that Wilson, 37, should be granted bail and released to his family if he can meet the court's requirements for release.

While his family is hopeful, they have grave concerns as to Wilson's declining health. Wilson spent three weeks in the Somerset County Jail after his February conviction, then a week in a Trenton transfer facility and had just been moved to a state prison complex in southern New Jersey when the appellate court finding came down.

Wilson's troubles began after a New Jersey National Guard helicopter pilot spotted 17 cannabis plants growing behind his home. He was arrested and charged with manufacturing drugs, a felony, manufacturing marijuana in the second- and possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms in the third degree.

He was found not guilty of the felony charge, which could have sent Wilson to prison for fifteen years.

During trial, Wronko was not allowed to mention to his client's jury that Wilson suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and was not allowed to introduce testimony as to the medical benefits cannabis afforded his client. It all but sealed the man's judicial fate.

Wilson’s case attracted extensive media attention and support from the Coalition for Medical Marijuana New Jersey as well as State Senators Raymond Lesniak and Nicholas Scutari who have petitioned the Governor to grant Wilson an Executive pardon.

J.Lo's Ex Files For Bankruptcy, Blames Litigation

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

Ojani Noa, former husband number one of Latina superstar Jennifer Lopez, has filed for bankruptcy.

Noa says the legal battle against Lopez has left him broke, busted and depressed.

"I can't go to work because anytime I go to a casting, people are afraid to hire me because of the judgment on my head. [They are] skeptical [because] of what I'm going through," he told the New York Post's Page Six.

"The lawsuit put me through so much pain and frustration. I'm losing everything," said Noa, who hoped that, by declaring bankruptcy, he could sell the tapes, along with his car and personal belongings, at a public auction.

But Lopez's lawyer, John Lavely says the tapes can't be sold: "Both the preliminary injunction and the permanent injunction are still in full force and effect. Offering for sale or selling the videotape would constitute a willful violation."

Lopez filed a $10 million suit against Noa in November 2009 obtaining a court order barring her ex-husband from using home videos -- including footage from their honeymoon -- for a movie he was producing on his life. The tapes in Noa's possession do not contain any sexual or graphic images of Lopez, so the ex-hubby claims.

The tapes Noa and his attorney are speaking of allegedly show Lopez engaged in "racy" behavior playfully kissing another woman and performing a lap dance, according to Noa and his business partner, Ed Meyer.

Noa ran into opposition from his beautiful ex-wife on a previous occasion in 2007 when he attempted to publish a tell-all book.
The book and allegations made by Noa violated a settlement in a separate lawsuit in which Noa agreed not to disparage La Lopez or to attempt to profit by disclosing details about Lopez's private life.
"The book proposal clearly contains material that violates the terms referenced [in] ... the settlement agreement," the seven- page decision read
A court-appointed arbitrator recommended that Lopez be awarded $200,000 in compensatory damages for breach of the couple's settlement agreement; nearly $300,000 in attorneys' fees and almost $48,000 in arbitration costs.
Noa planned to title the book, "The Unknown Truth: A Passionate Portrait of a Serial Thriller."
Unlike the book, Noa says the biopic he's planning to film is a love story about him, in Miami, but he says the flick is on hold after potential investors backed away from the project as litigation between he and Lopez progressed saying, "let's back up and see how this situation gets resolved."

Noa claims he does not need the tapes in question in order to film the movie, but the sale of said tapes would be the answer to his money woes.

The movie deal isn't the only area Noa's legal troubles with Lopez are hitting him hard. The cocinero says he recently lost a role on the hit reality TV show “Jersey Shore” because producers feared legal troubles if they hired him.

Business partner Meyer told WENN, "One of the executive producers of Jersey Shore told him, 'Ojani, we're doing Miami and you're big in Miami but I can't put you on the show because I'll get sued by Jennifer Lopez.' They thought he'd be perfect for a walk-on role," said Myer.

Noa appeared on a "Survivor" show in Spain and was even invited back for a second season, but was allegedly told at the last minute, "No, we can't do it because we've spoken to Jennifer Lopez's lawyers and, sorry, we can't take the risk."

Word is Noa is living off of handouts from family in order to survive.

Noa, who was married to Lopez from February 1997 until January 1998, is a Cuban immigrant who met Senora Lopez while he was a waiter. The talented jefe de cocina later became Head Chef at J. Lo's restaurant, Madre's only to be fired four months after their split.

Teacher Gets Stolen Car Back Three Years Later 'New & Improved'

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

When Amanda Pogany's car was stolen from her Prospect Heights neighborhood three years ago, she had no real expectation she'd ever see it again, but a surprise call from the New york City Police Department led her to an impound lot in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn -- and there was her car.

Sure, it looked different, totally different, but it was definitely her car...a new and improved version of the used vehicle her father, Peter Pogany, bought years ago.

Pogany's 1996 Honda Accord looked more like a car souped up for a drag race when she claimed it at the impound lot. The new "owner" proudly hung a Dominican flag and a crucifix from the rear-view mirror, then had a brand new V-TEC engine installed along with mounted over sized tires replete with special hubcaps; the windows were tinted and the Honda had been treated to custom valve stem caps shaped like bullet casings.

"I was like, 'I'm Jewish. I don't need a cross hanging from my window,'" said Pogany laughing. "The whole thing was crazy."

For a young teen-aged boy or a race car driver in-training, the car was a dream come true, but for Pogany, an eight grade Hebrew teacher, it was just weird.

"It was totally unbelievable. [The officer] proceeded to tell me it wasn't just my car, but it was a new version of my car, a really fancy version of my car."

Not only had the Honda Accord been drag-race souped-up, but it had been turned into a manual transmission and sported new leather interior.

Pogany, who has filed for a new VIN number and registration papers for her "new" car said, "I almost feel bad that I don't even recognize the level of which this car is capable of, but my husband is very excited."

"I think it's several thousand dollars more than it was," she added. "When they opened the hood it was just so fancy. I literally didn't even recognize it."

And she's had plenty of offers to buy the car since it was recovered, even her mailman has expressed interest.

Police came across the stolen vehicle while busting a chop shop in Queens. Although the VIN number had been filed off, police were able to trace it back to Pogany.

A car enthusiast bought the Honda from car thieves and immediately began upgrading the vehicle, sparing no expense to include the new transmission he paid to have installed when the raid occurred.

During sentencing Monday in Newark, U.S. District Judge William H. Walls also ordered Shortway-English to make full restitution to the Social Security Administration.

Electrocution on Queens 'A' Line Ruled Accidental

The Black Urban Times

A New York City Transit supervisor was killed Monday when he slipped on a wet track on the elevated A line train tracks electrocuting himself.

The 4:30 a.m. accident occurred at the Beach 90th Street Station in Rockaway Beach Queens as James Knell, 45, was replacing track panels.

Although Knell's death has been deemed an accident, NYC Transit has launched an investigation to "determine a cause and to ensure we prevent a recurrence," said NYC Transit President Tom Prendergast.

Knell, of East Rockaway, LI, had been an employee of the NYC Transit Authority for 13 years and was part of the crew working on a station rehab project.

“We lost one of our own this morning and labeling this incident a tragedy is a painful statement of the obvious,” Prendergast told the New York Post.

John Samuelson, president of Transport Workers Union Local 100 who said he had worked together with Knell in the past, argued that no transit worker should be near a third rail while it rained.

"Nobody should be working near a live third rail while its raining or wet. You can clearly be killed," he said.

Samuelson said the third rail was turned off while employees worked, but it was re-energized at the end of the job to run a test train. Jimmy then went back on the tracks to retrieve a bucket. It was wet, and he slipped and fell onto the third rail. "

Water and an electrified third rail don't mix well," said Samuelson, who added that he would seek a rule change so that this "will not happen again."

Knell, the first transit worker to die on the job in three years, is survived by his wife and two step-children.

Service on the A was temporarily suspended after the accident. MTA officials arranged shuttle buses for commuters during the morning rush from the Beach 67th Street Station.

Al Sharpton to Join Hispanic Activist to Fight Arizona's New Immigration Bill

0 comments Labels: news

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

Lillian Rodriguez of the Hispanic Federation and the Reverend Al Sharpton will take to the streets as they challenge Arizona's new immigration bill, even if it means the two activists committing an act of civil disobedience.

The bill, signed into law by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer Friday, will give police the right to question people about their immigration status including asking for identification should they suspect the individual is in the country illegally.

The bill has ignited a contentious debate and has Hispanics across Arizona fearing an increase in racial and ethnic profiling. Twitter users haven't been shy about voicing their dislike of the new bill which many believe has set race relations back in a major way.

The Huffington Post news posted results from Crimson Hexagon, a group that tracks online opinion forums, that reviewed more than 21,000 Twitter responses to the new law and found 66 percent of the tweepers were opposed to the Arizona bill with only 28 percent in support of it.

The firm states that 21 percent percent of tweepers found the new bill to be outright racist.

Seven percent of tweepers opined that "those on the Left who are against the law support illegal immigration and therefore support increased crime in the United States."

Five percent of tweepers gave their nod of ascension saying "support for the tougher immigration law either because it is common sense to enforce 'the federal law already in place.'

Fiver percent of tweepers acknowledged the mere presence of the bill, but, like President Obama, questioned the constitutionality of the law.

Eight percent of the tweepers voiced support of Representative Raul Grijalva's (D-Ariz.) call to boycott the state of Arizona.

The new bill, which is set to go into effect sometime in July or August, has been called "misguided" by President Barack Obama and he has instructed the Justice Department to look into the legality of the bill.

Speaking at a naturalization ceremony for 24 active-duty service members held in the Rose Garden, President Obama called for a federal overhaul of immigration laws and said the Arizona bill threatened "to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and our communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe."

While Governor Brewer acknowledged concerns by critics saying she would ensure the proper training of police and assured constituents that racial profiling would not be tolerated, she defended the new law arguing that it "provided an indispensable tool for the police in a border state that is a leading magnet of illegal immigration."

"We have to trust our law enforcement," said Governor Brewer.

Many believe Governor Brewer signed the law into effect under intense political pressure made worse by the recent murder of a rancher in southern Arizona by a suspected smuggler. The Governor used the rancher's death to drive home a plan urging the federal government to post National Guard troops on the border.

Seacacus police shut down an alleged illegal club Friday night after someone noticed a marquee boasting a comedy event for the same evening on the old Channel 41 building. The anonymous caller tipped off the towns Mayor, who in turn, notified police.

Police arrived at the Meadowlands Parkway around 7:45 p.m. to find 200 patrons standing outside the makeshift nightclub waiting to enter the illegal nightclub for a comedy event featuring popular comedian, Earthquake.

When police entered the building, they found an illegal bar replete with a buffet. Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli said the wanna-be club owner applied for proper state and local permits, but was denied. The woman did not have a license to sell liquor.

Gonnelli said about 600 tickets were sold through Ticketweb for the comedy event, which expected to host almost 800 patrons. All event goers left the building peacefully and no arrests were made.

Man Counter Charges Victim in Board of Ed Dust-Up

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

An alleged assault and robbery during an April 12 Board of Education candidate’s forum at Stevens College has resulted in counter charges of simple assault and harassment and the downgrading of the initial felony robbery charge against Lane Bajardi by a superior court judge.

Bajardi, an outspoken critic of the NJTransit rail yards, was arrested after a local blogger claimed Bajardi assaulted him and took his digital camera during a candidate's forum earlier this month.

Apparently, Roman Brice, a blogger for Mile Square View, was covering the candidate's forum debate for his blog. He snapped a photo of Bajardi, which upset the outspoken political critic. At some point, Bajardi's left his seat to confront Brice.

According to the police report filed by Brice, Bajardi allegedly asked Brice if he wanted to "play games," to which Brice responded,"sure I want to play chess."

The report goes on to say that Mr. Bajardi pushed Brice with two hands to his chest and then took his digital camera and walked away. Brice alleges he was forced to follow Bajardi in order to retrieve his camera back before Mr. Bajardi destroyed it.

Based upon Brice's account of the incident, a warrant was issued for Bajardi and he was charged with assault and robbery, a felony, for taking Brice's camera from him and walking away with it.

Det. Lt. Mark Competello of the Hoboken police department issued a statement concerning the arrest and downgrading of the initial felony robbery charge: " This is not your typical prototype robbery, however the facts as provided by the victim do sustain the charge initially.

The decision to upgrade or downgrade a criminal charge rests with the Hudson County Prosecutor, not with law enforcement and I presume the charge will ultimately be downgraded to a Disorderly Person offense and be adjudicated in municipal court. There was no investigation by Hoboken Police pertaining to this incident; the charge was produced upon information and belief of the [victim].

In incidents of this nature police intervention is minimal and both parties versions of the incident are heard in court, where a judge will ultimately decide the outcome. It must be noted that Mr. Bajardi is to be afforded the presumption of innocence, until such time this matter is adjudicated in court. Moreover, as is typical in these types of incidents should Mr. Bajardi decide to file a criminal counter-complaint against [the victim], that also is within the law and shall be also taken by the Detective Bureau."

The judge has downgraded Bajardi's charge to Disorderly Person Offense and referred the case to the Hoboken Municipal Court for adjudication.

Brice retrieved his camera, hostile words were exchanged between the two and Bajardi walked back to his seat. Brice continued to take photos of the debate.

Last week, Bajardi, 39, filed the counter charges against Brice alleging that the initial incident at the Board of Education debate was a "culmination of harassment" Bajardi alleges Brice has inflicted upon him since October 2009 and that his integrity, credibility and family have been called into question by Brice causing him "annoyance and alarm."

Bajardi's complaint alleges that it was Brice, 46, who did the pushing causing him to lose his balance and fall back into an auditorium seat, which led to a hip injury. The dust-up occurred on the steps against the wall of the auditorium. Bajardi walked back to his seat afterward.

Lt., Competello stated that the Bajardi/Brice scuffle would now be resolved in Hoboken Municipal Court and no further law enforcement investigation into the matter would occur.

Police are investigating the early morning robbery of a Jersey City woman who says she was robbed of cash and a bottle of liquor after she left a bar.

Police say they were called to Communipaw Avenue and Halladay Street around 1 a.m. in reference to the robbery where they met with the 32-year-old woman they described as being “tipsy.”

The woman, of Van Horne Street, told officers a man held a gun to her head and robbed her of her cell phone, cash and her wallet containing more than $3,000.

The victim, who claimed the gunman told her, "This is a robbery, don't move,” told police she wasn’t exactly sure of where the robbery occurred and also gave conflicting reports of what the gunman looked like.

The report states she first told police the gunman wore dreadlocks, but later changed her statement to say he had an Afro hairstyle. Police continue to investigate.

New Jersey Dad in Brazil to Regain Custody of Son

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

A famous Brazilian athlete has once again been ordered by the court to relinquish custody of her son to his American father, who has spent the past four years fighting for custody of the child after his mother took him to Brazil to visit relatives in 2006 and never returned.

Hilma Aparecida Caldeira, a one-time Olympic contender and former member of Brazil's national volleyball team filed for divorce and custody of her son the same year she returned to Brazil. She has been ordered, for a second time in four months, to return her 4-year-old son, Kelvin, to his father, Kelvin Birotte of Houston.

Birotte, who saiid he has been unable to reach his estranged wife since he arrived in Rio DeJaniero, told the Associated Press that the deadline for his estranged wife to return his son is set for Thursday, but that he learned she has filed an appeal to the custody order.

In an attempt to encourage Caldeira to telephone him, Birotte has posted a phone number on his facebook page hoping his estranged wife will call. He has no idea what city Caldeira and his son are in, but vows to remain in Brazil until the custody dispute is settled.

"I'm going to be here until something happens, good or bad," said Birotte, who has not seen his son since at court hearing in 2007 when the little boy was a year and a half old.

The New Jersey dad had a simple yet powerful message for his son, "Daddy loves him and he misses him."

The Birotte/Caldeira custody dispute mirrors another international custody dispute that took nealry five years to settle after the boys mother died and his step-father fought to keep the boy rather than return him to his biological father in the United States.

David Goldman of Tinton Falls fought his former wife, Bruna Bianchi of Brazil for custody of their son, Sean. After Bianchi died while giving birth to a child she bore with her new husband, Goldman was swept into a legal battle with Bianchi's new husband and father-in-law. The case was finally resolved after a Brazilian Supreme Court judge backed a federal court's ruling that ordered the Brazilian family to return Sean, then nine-years-old, to his father.

Birotte told the media he drew inspiration from Goldman's battle, but the two fathers have yet to meet.

The New Jersey State Medical Examiner's Office is conducting an autopsy on a body pulled from the southern bank of the Raritan River in Sayerville Saturday. Police believe the body may be that of a three-month old baby girl who was tossed off of the Driscoll Bridge by her father back in February.

Clothing and other garments fitting the description of clothing the infant was last seen wearing match those found on the body found in the river Saturday. DNA tests will be conducted during the autopsy to determine if the remains are those of baby Zara Malani-lin Abdur.

Shamsid-Din Abdur-Raheem, of Galloway Township, was arrested in February and charged with kidnapping after investigators say he assaulted his daughter's grandmother during an argument at her East Orange apartment then fled with baby Zara and later throwing her into the River. Abdur-Raheem has pleaded not guilty to the charge and is awaiting trial.

Jersey City Teen on Two-Month Murder Spree Described as 'Quiet'

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

One man stands accused of committing five of the nine homicides that occurred in Jersey City this year. Prosecutors say Shiquan Bellamy,19, of Jersey City went on a two-month homicidal rampage that may send him to a State Prison for the rest of his life if convicted of all five murders.

Bellamy's homicidal marauding began with the double homicide of cousins Mileak Richardson, 26, and Lester “Bleek” Thompson, 17, who were found face down on Woodlawn Avenue the night of February 2 with several fatal gunshot wounds.

Investigators say Bellamy, Hakeem “Hak” Lester and Ronald “Diddy” Lawrence, both 21, set the two victims up, then robbed them of their cell phone, drugs and cash before killing them.

The following month, Hudson County prosecutor Edward DeFazio says without apparent provocation, Bellamy walked up behind 20-year-old Lamonte Wright on Clerk Street near Myrtle Avenue around 6:00 a.m. and shot him in the back with a shotgun as Wright walked his girlfriend to her car on March 27.

Eight days later, Bellamy and two accomplices committed the execution style murders of Nia Haqq, 25, and Michael Muchioki, 27. On April 4, Bellamy, along with Darmelia Lawrence and Latonia Bellamy, both 19, robbed and murdered the newly engaged couple as they returned to their Randolph Avenue home from their engagement party.

The couple was ordered to exit their vehicle and when they did, Police say both were shot in the back of the head.

The trio robbed the couple of jewelry, including the soon-to-be-bride's engagement ring, and other personal items in what police say was an attempted carjacking foiled by the anti-theft system on the couple's SUV.

Muchioki, an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha, worked at Antenna Software Inc. in Jersey City for three years, while Haqq designed software in Manhattan for an affiliate of Nickelodeon. The loving couple, who had been dating for five years since meeting through Haqq's Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, were buried side-by-side at the Rosedale & Rosehill Cemetery in Linden.

Latonia Bellamy and Shiquan Bellamy are cousins. Ronald "Diddy" Lawrence is reportedly the older brother of Darmelia Lawrence who has been charged as an accomplice to Shiquan Bellamy in the Randolph Avenue double homicide.

When Ronald Lawrence was arrested for the double slayings of Richardson and Thompson, Darmelia Lawrence and Crystal Caldwell, 28, who was pregnant with Ronald Lawrence's child said he turned himself into police in order to clear his name. Darmelia Lawrence, who provided an alibi for her brother at the time of the murders, The Jersey Journal "He turned himself in because he knew he did nothing wrong. He wants to take the lie detector test to prove it."

Ronald Lawrence, who has been charged with armed robbery and weapons offenses, is being held at the Hudson County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Bellamy, whose past criminal history did not include any violent crimes, was arrested April 6 for an outstanding warrant for parole violation. Bellamy, who spent seven-months in prison on drug charges, had been on parole since his October 2009 release.

So far, four of the five murders Bellamy is accused of committing appear to be motivated by robbery.

DeFazio stated that while Bellamy may have been using drugs and alcohol before the shootings of Haqq and Muchioki, he has ruled out the influence of drugs or mental illness as a cause for Bellamy's murder spree saying the teen was competent when he was arraigned April 12.

The murders did not fit the profile for gang related shootings and an unnamed Jersey City police officer who participated in solving the crimes said Bellamy would not have committed these murders as part of any gang related activity.

"Gangs would not engage in the shootings of people who were for the most part innocent, but of fellow gang bangers. They would not want the heat from the public."

How investigators have drawn the conclusion that Bellamy, who was described by a neighbor as "quiet," is the sole trigger man in all five murders is still a mystery, but DeFazio said forensic evidence from Haqq’s vehicle tied Bellamy to the other two murders.

Bellamy, who faces several consecutive life sentences if convicted of these murders, is being held in lieu of $6 million bail; $2 million for each alleged murder.
